We have a title announcement. There has been speculation in the Android community on what will be the name. Usually we get a development title before an official name is released. Android 'N' which became Nougat, Android 'O' became Oreo, and the latest Android 'P"ie. So everyone had their own pet names before the official release of What Android version 10.0 would be -- a.k.a. Android 'Q'.
I have to say -- quite the let down. The official name is "Android 10." Air going out of a balloon. In the past we've had:
- 02.3 - Gingerbread
- 04.0 - Ice Cream Sandwich
- 04.1+ Jelly Bean
- 04.4 - KitKat
- 05.0+ Lollipop
- 06.0 - Marshmallow
- 07.0+ Nougat
- 08.0+ Oreo
- 09.0+ Pie
- 10.0 - Android 10
Now don't get me wrong. A name isn't the bread and butter of a new system. What features Android 10 are the most important. However, having manifested over the years a cool moniker for the Android fan base the name is awfully dull.
As a result, I will continue to call it Android Quesedilla. Yes, I know it's supposed to be dessert related, but after all the sugar over the years I thought it might be a good time to add some salt -- or some even nacho cheese. @jdolcourt on Twitter suggested to me Nutella Quesedilla (in keeping the dessert theme) and I'm completely fine with that as well -- I'm all for Nutella. I find the notion both interesting and delicious. Hopefully Android 10 will also be so.
P.S. Nutella also got into the fun BTW: Twitter_Conversation
